The November Tribal Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at the fabulous Castano Teepee located at 27514 Bradenton Court, Valencia, 91354. We’ll be settling up for the food at Big Rock Creek and contributing to the yearly wampum ($20), so please bring cash or your check book (whoever said Y-Guides was cheap?!). Hope to see you there!
Chickadees
Once again the Nun-pa-wa-pa Nation descended upon Placerita Jr. High School in Newhall November 10th The annual Pancake Breakfast. Our volunteer time was the 10:00AM to 11:00AM shift and it went off without a hitch. We had most of the Chickadees taking tickets while the dads took to the grills with older siblings running the pancakes and sausages, and serving up the other goodies. Cameron Likes (older brother of Ellie) actually got his picture in the Signal Newspaper the following day. The only image of an actual Chickadee in the photo was Tim Barbour’s grease laden shirt in front of the sausage grill.
We owe thanks to Tim Barbour for hosting the November meeting. The kitchen at his teepee was under construction so we had our meeting at Mountasia and decided to combine an outing along with the meeting. All the girls had a super time – Emily actually had the good fortune to hit a jackpot on one of the games and won over 1700 tickets. She cashed in her winnings on a traffic signal light and also bought each of the Chickadees a pop-up toy. For dessert, Tim bought all the girls ice cream – there were sticky smiles as far as the eye could see.
For our farewell of the evening we went outside the front door of Mountasia and continued our Chickadee traditional send off. We recited the Chickadee motto and tossed the kids in to the air…
Our next meeting will take place at 7:00PM on Wednesday, December 12th at Vincenzo’s Pizza.
